What Lab Desk is not
Lab Desk is built around test results with numeric values and reference ranges. Anatomic pathology workflows such as case management, grossing, block and slide tracking and synoptic reporting are not the focus today. If those are what you need, keep your current system for them.
Records and orders
Find any patient and any order fast.
Search by name, date of birth, phone or record number. Each order holds the patient, referring provider, specimen ID, received time and payment status, with a clear history of who changed what.

Frequently asked questions
Can Lab Desk replace our anatomic pathology LIS?
No. Case management, grossing, block and slide tracking and synoptic reporting are not the focus of Lab Desk today. Most pathology labs would use it alongside their current system for the admin side.
Can we share narrative or PDF pathology reports?
Lab Desk's results are structured around the tests in your catalog. How narrative reports from another system would fit is something we'd like to go through with you. Talk to us before you decide.
Does the AI read pathology reports?
No. The AI checks numeric results against your reference ranges and drafts summaries for staff to review. It never diagnoses and it doesn't interpret pathology findings.
Can referring doctors see their results in one place?
Yes. Each provider gets a secure link on every release, plus a standing link that lists every result they ordered.
Is patient data protected?
Lab Desk is HIPAA and GDPR compliant, with encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access and an audit log. Patient data is never used to train AI.
